My journey
As a traveling portrait artist, I look for inspiring places to paint unique people. I painted men in kilts in Scotland, expressive flamenco dancers in Seville, monks in Thailand and descendants of sturdy Vikings in Iceland. It is not only their appearance that fascinates me, but also their different way of being, living in a world that seems so different from mine.
In my watercolors I leave out everything that distracts me from that extraordinary and unique beauty. What I don't paint enhances what I do paint: the essence. Less is more.
My next trip will be in April, to the beautiful island of Ikaria, where people may have found the secret to live well into their 90s and older. I will give lectures about my art journey in fall and winter 2024.
